Cactus Macro

While out exploring the Tucson Mountain Park west of Tucson, I found this small cactus with its bright flowers and couldn't resist setting up my camera on tripod for a macro shot. The light of the setting sun was indirectly illuminating the scene. I used my 70-300mm zoom at 190mm focal length in Macro mode with an exposure of 1/10 seconds at f/16, ISO 400. Posted by Picasa

This is a Hedgehog cactus. Typically very small about the size of your fist and are usually found alone amongst rocky terrain.
Very pretty with slightly curved needles. It's brother the Rainbow hedgehog is a significant find since their numbers are dwindeling.
Beautiful shot! I like all of your photography!
