Water #1
The fountain by Old Main on the U of A campus caught my attention the other day while hiking around campus. The water shooting out of the top of the fountain battling the wind to form some interesting shapes. In this view, the wind has little affect on the shape of the water flow, but in the next images I'll post, you can see how the flow responds to wind pressure. Gotta love physics.... This image was taken at 168mm focal length with an exposure of 1/6400 seconds at f/8, ISO 1600.

Contact!
Jeff Salazar of the Tucson Sidewinders is about to make contact on this pitch. I can tell that the ball is inbound still since he actually fouled this ball off on a line drive into the stands down the 1st base line and this ball is clearly still moving straight down the pipe. The next pitch he wacked into left field for an RBI double. This image was taken at 300mm focal length with an exposure of 1/250 seconds at f/5.6, ISO 800.

Damaged saguaro
Unfortunately, in heavily trafficed areas like this near Gates Pass, many of the saguaro cacti show signs of malicious damage. This image was taken at 24mm focal length with an exposure of 1/80 seconds at f/1.8, ISO 400.

Sunset Silhouette
The sunset sky provided a great silhouette with the cacti on the side of the hill. This image was taken at 168mm focal length with an exposure of 1/250 seconds at f/5.6, ISO 400.

Ocotillo & Cacti
Always remember to look around. This view of an ocotillo and some saguaro are made spectacular by the sunset colors lighting them up. This image was taken at 24mm focal length with an exposure of 1/50 seconds at f/2.8, ISO 400.

Sunset view of Kitt Peak
This view of Kitt Peak just after sunset was taken from Gates Pass, a popular sunset viewing site in the Tucson Mountains west of Tucson. You can see at least 9 telescope domes in this view with the largest and most prominant on the right being the 4-meter Mayall Telescope. Our 36 inch Spacewatch telescope is the 3rd dome from the right with the 90 inch Bok telescope between it and the 4-meter. This image was taken at 300mm focal length with an exposure of 1/100 seconds at f/8, ISO 400.

Historic downtown Tucson
This old house is not far from the northwest corner of the old Presidio in downtown Tucson. A B&W conversion and sepia treatment seemed appropriate. This iamge was taken at 31mm focal length with an exposure of 1/500 seconds at f/8, ISO 100.

Downtown storm
I took the long way to my bus stop last night on the way home, doing about a 2 mile hike before catching a slightly later bus home. I walked through the presidio park next to the old courthouse and looked back at the ominuous looking clouds brewing towards the northeast. This image was taken at 18mm focal length with an exposure of 1/500 seconds at f/8, ISO 100.
