The skies over Tucson were filled with the sounds of propeller driven airplanes and jets as the Heritage flight practiced formation flying and airshow maneuvers at Davis-Monthan AFB over the weekend. This image was taken with my 70-300mm zoom at 190mm focal length on my 20D. The exposure was 1/2500 seconds at f/5, ISO 400.

Drool. That reminds me to check the schedules for this spring's local airshows, 'tis the season (and I adore WWII birds).
I just came back inside from watching 20 minutes or so of a glider performing some fantastic maneuvers off to the East, but alas a tele would have been required to capture it.
Stay tuned, I'll post another shot or two from the set I have. The star of the show was a bit of a surprise which I'll only hint at - Can you say Supersonic cruise?
BTW, Saturday's practice was cut short when an F-86 landing at D-M had trouble with its landing gear and had to make an emergency landing. I guess the old bird is a total loss, but the pilot walked away....
