I found this Burrowing Owl perched along the west bank of the Santa Cruz river south of Irvington road in Tucson. We both watched each other closely as I crept closer to him, snapping pictures until he launched himself into the air and flew across the river to the other bank (the Santa Cruz river is almost always a dry riverbed except after rains). This image was taken with my 70-300mm zoom at 190mm focal length on my Canon 20D with an exposure of 1/1600 seconds at f/8, ISO 400.
