VLBA antenna

This radio telescope is part of the Very Large Baseline Array of telescopes spread around the globe to make a radio telescope effectively nearly the size of Earth. This dish is located on the Southwest ridge on Kitt Peak. My friend Richard visited the Very Large Array (VLA) in New Mexico where a set of radio telescopes are located along 3 radial tracks and can be moved for different typs of observations. His images can be found on his webpage starting with this image. This image was tkaen at 300mm focal length with my 70-300mm zoom. The exposure was 1/500 seconds at f/5.6, ISO 100. Posted by Picasa
