A log on the fire

On the subject of fire, here's a photo of the fire in the fireplace after dinner. This image was taken at 39mm focal length with an exposure of 1/200 seconds at f/10, ISO 400.

nice shot! how would it look through an IR filter?? you should give a try!

With my 20D and it's IR cutoff filter, I'd need a long exposure, so the flame would be very much smeared out. I don't think you'd get any real thermal IR thanks to that cutoff filter as well..... Would be fun to see, though, especially with a good IR sensitive camera.

It'd be interesting to see what a very long exposure would look like too. ISO 100, with very deep ND filter. IR or not...
